Common issues explored in counselling

Clients come to counselling with a variety of issues and problems.  Or sometimes they come to work out how to get more from their lives.  Sometimes they just come for a good moan.  Very often the issue they come with is quite different to the one they end up working on.  I've listed some of the topics of conversation below - you'd be surprised what we cover.


Research tells us that the approach adopted by the therapist is less important than the relationship you have with them.  Therefore, I think it's essential for us to have an initial chat to see how we get on.  So, what do you have to lose? There's no commitment at that stage.  It might just help you to feel comfortable enough to start exploring your thoughts and emotions, and maybe take it a step further.
